Meet
the Architect of
Saratoga National
ROGER G. RULEWICH, the chief golf
course architect and principal of The
Roger Rulewich Group, LLC., formed the company in 1995 after
34 years with Robert Trent Jones, Sr., most of that time as Senior
Design Associate.
A 1958 graduate of Yale University with a degree in civil engineering,
Roger worked for 3 years with Clarke and Rapuano, consulting engineers
and landscape architects in New York City, before joining the
Jones organization. Serving his apprenticeship with Jones in New
York and New Jersey and on the company's golf course projects
around the world prepared him for a long career as a golf course
architect. He was accepted into the American Society of Golf Course
Architects in 1974 and after serving the Society as chairman,
governor and officer, was elected President for the 1987-88 year.
Roger has been the principal force in the design, remodeling and
field direction of more than 150 courses throughout North America
and abroad. His list of credits include: the ROBERT TRENT JONES
GOLF TRAIL in Alabama comprising a total of 21 public golf courses
at 8 sites around the state; the APPLE ROCK COURSE in Horseshoe
Bay, Texas selected as the Best New Resort Course of 1986 by Golf
Digest: METEDECONK NATIONAL GOLF CLUB, a 27-hole private course
in Jackson, NJ, ranked in the top ten in the state; and the CRUMPIN-
FOX CLUB, a semi-public course in Bernardston, Massachusetts,
rated the second best public access course in New England.
Courses hosting recent major championships that have received
Roger's design touch are the famed No.3 course at MEDINAH (1999
PGA Championship), BELLERIVE COUNTRY CLUB (1992 PGA Championship,
2001 WGC, 2004 USGA Senior Open) and the ROBERT TRENT JONES GOLF
CLUB (1994, 1996,2000 Presidents Cup).
Roger's design work is also evident overseas at the ADARE MANOR
GOLF CLUB in Ireland, the 36 hole facilities at the CELTIC MANOR
in Wales and the GREENBRIER WEST VILLAGE in Japan, PLAYA GRANDE
in the Dominican Republic and VALDERRAMA in Spain.
Heading his own Group, Roger provides "hands-on" direction
of his designs. With a staff that has the skills and capabilities
to shape and contour the finished golf course and to coordinate
other course construction, Roger can promise courses that are
both well designed and well built. He will tailor his firm's services
to the needs of the client and to those of the players, always
blending beauty with function.
With his headquarters and residence in Bernardston, MA., Roger
can be reached at the offices of The Roger Rulewich Group, adjacent
to the CRUMPIN-FOX CLUB. |
