Meet Jan

In 2001, we hired Jan, a 3-year-old Border Collie, as the professional goose dog at Saratoga National Golf Club.

Jan's area of responsibility includes ridding the golf course of geese and their excrement from our greens and fairways. This is no easy task. Jan needs to police Lake Lonely, Owl Pond, and the 7 ponds throughout the back nine.

Jan has done an exceptional job in assisting the greens and grounds staff maintain the golf course in top shape. Jan is also learning other job skills including chasing and retrieving golf balls. While you enjoy a round of golf, you might be lucky enough to see Jan at work.
