Saratoga National Earns Top Honors
from Golf Digest and Golf week

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – April 25, 2006

Saratoga National Golf Club continues to earn high honors in recent rankings by Golf Digest and Golfweek magazines. The Club received 4.5 out of 5 stars on Golf Digest’s 2006 list of “Best Places to Play” as well as the #3 spot on Golfweek’s list of top public courses in New York State for 2006.

Saratoga National is among only 500 public-access golf courses throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean to earn a 4.5-star designation from Golf Digest. The ratings are based on evaluations by more than 20,000 readers of the national magazine. Players share their opinions on course conditions, pace of play, service, value and the overall experience at 7,000 golf courses. A team of Golf Digest editors averages the ratings.

“We’re proud to have earned four-and-a-half stars on Golf Digest’s list of Best Places to Play,” said Saratoga National CEO Tom Newkirk. “To receive a ranking based on the readers’ opinions confirms we’re fulfilling our mission to offer a first-class golf experience that everyone can enjoy.”

Adding to its list of recognitions, Saratoga National again was named the third best public course in New York State by Golfweek. The state-by-state public course rankings are part of Golfweek’s annual list of “America’s Best Golf Courses”. Thousands of courses are considered each year. A nationwide team of 380 evaluators survey each course based on ten criteria.

Ranked New York’s #1 public course this year was the Black Course at Bethpage State Park. Also on Golfweek’s list were Shenandoah (#2), in Verona, and The Sagamore (#8), in Bolton Landing. The complete rankings are featured in the March 11 issue of Golfweek.

Golf Digest’s “Best Places to Play” guide will be available at bookstores and golf shops in early May.
