International Association
of Golf Course Owners
Names Saratoga National Golf Club
“Course of the Year”
SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY, October
28, 2004– An international association of golf course
owners has named Saratoga National Golf Club “Course of
the Year” for 2005.
The National Golf Course Owners Association
(NGCOA), which has worldwide representation, selected Saratoga
National for the award after the club won honors as the best
golf facility in New York State for 2004. Saratoga National
President Tom Newkirk accepted the state award from members
of the NGCOA New York chapter in a ceremony held at the club
today. The international award will be formally announced at
a conference this February in Orlando.
New York Chapter President Ray Holohan presented
the state award today. “I had an opportunity to experience
Saratoga National firsthand this season, so I know it’s
deserving of both the state and international recognition,”
Holohan said. Award winners are selected by a national board
based on the quality of the golf course, the quality of management,
contributions to the community and contributions to the game.
“We work hard to provide guests with
a world-class experience, so it’s gratifying that Saratoga
National continues to earn accolades from independent sources,”
said Newkirk. Saratoga National and its on-premises restaurant
Sargo’s have been highly rated by magazines like Golf
Digest, Golfweek and Wine Spectator since opening in 2001.
