Saratoga National Golf Club
Named
One of the Top 50 Courses for Women in the U.S.
SARATOGA
SPRINGS, NY, June 20 – Saratoga National Golf Club has
earned the 35th spot on Golf for Women magazine’s
list of “50 Best Courses for Women.”
The magazine announced the winners earlier
this month and will publish the “top 50” in its
summer issue on sale next week. Saratoga National was the only
course in New York State to make the list, which included premier
courses like Pebble Beach in California. The Seaside Course
at Sea Island Golf Club in Georgia finished first.
A panel of prominent women in the golf industry,
golf course architects, top amateur players and travel writers
judged public and private courses from across the U.S. The panelists
based rankings on playability, multiple tee time choices, course
design, women’s programs, aesthetics and amenities.
“We designed Saratoga National so that
golfers of all abilities—men and women—could come,
be challenged and most of all, have fun,” said Peter Tavares,
Director of Golf. “Being rated one of the nation’s
best golf experiences for women just confirms that we have wide
appeal.”
In 2001, Golf Digest magazine named
Saratoga National #5 Best New Upscale Public Golf Course in
America. “We offer the complete country club experience
at a first-class facility,” Tavares said, “but on
a daily fee basis. There are no dues or initiation fees.”
Now in its third season, Saratoga National’s
18-hole championship golf course is open to the public seven
days a week. Greens fees range from $85 to $125 and include
a cart with GPS, all-day use of the practice facilities and
use of clubhouse amenities. Fine dining is available at Sargo’s,
a four-star restaurant located in the clubhouse.
